Jiangsu Metrology Institute Provides Support for Radiation Environmental Monitoring

Recently, in response to the strong nuclear shocks that triggered the nuclear leakage at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, coastal provinces such as Jiangsu have strengthened real-time monitoring of radiation environment monitoring stations. On March 15th, the Jiangsu Provincial Measurement Institute opened a green channel for the measurement of measuring instruments for radiation environmental monitoring, prioritized testing, and fully supported the emergency monitoring of the radiation environment in the province.

On March 11th, after the strong earthquake in Japan, the country’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant exploded four times successively, and the radioactive material leaked from the nuclear power station was spreading in Japan and beyond. According to the requirements of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Radiation Environmental Monitoring and Management Station of the Jiangsu Provincial Environmental Protection Agency immediately launched an emergency plan to fully implement emergency monitoring of the radiation environment throughout the province. In order to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the monitoring and measuring instruments used by the 7 automatic radiation monitoring stations in the province, 8 sets of x-γ dosimeters and surface contamination dosimeters sent by the Metrology Institute of Jiangsu Province are specially used for monitoring the radiation environment. The measuring instruments open up green channels and prioritize inspection and inspection. It is understood that the laboratory's ionizing radiation test laboratory assumes the task of transmitting ionizing radiation instruments throughout the province. Its hardware level and technical capabilities have reached the domestic advanced level.
