Japan Revised Rules for Technical Standards of Some Radio Equipment Regulations

Recently, Japan has notified the WTO Secretariat of the Provincial Directorate's Bill (G/TBT/N/JPN/382) on the partial revision of technical regulations for radio equipment regulations and designated radio equipment conformity certification.

In order to reduce the adverse effects of radio waves on human health, Japan revised the standards for the allowable range of Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) for radio equipment (for example, mobile phones) that are used in close proximity to the ear; and supplementary regulations stipulate closeness to the human body (excluding palms). Used radio frequency range (standard below 6 GHz).

The proposed approval date of this notified regulation is June 2012, and the proposed effective date is December 2012.
