According to reports, due to the failure of the Takada airbag, Honda Motor recently recalled 104,871 vehicles in the United States. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the vehicles involved in the recall included 88,549 2008 Pilots, 10,868 2004 Civics (participating, pictures, inquiry) and 5,454 2001 Accord (Partition, picture, inquiry). The 2004 Civic and 2001 Accord were recalled before, and the 2008 Pilot was recalled for the first time. Honda said that the company has not yet received a report on the rupture of the Pilot airbag, and has informed the owner of the faulty vehicle to repair and replace the driver's side airbag free of charge. Because of the rupture and explosion after a violent impact, the metal fragments that popped up may kill the insiders. The Takada airbag has killed at least 6 people and injured 64 people. Since last year, Honda has recalled 5.5 million vehicles due to Takada airbag defects. Since 2008, more than 10 car companies have recalled more than 25 million vehicles worldwide due to Takata airbag failure, making it the largest car recall case to date.
