Delphi's second-quarter earnings growth of 11%

On August 1, 2012, auto parts supplier Delphi Motors Corp. (DLPH) released a wealth report on Tuesday that its second-quarter net profit rose 11%, benefiting from cost cuts, despite lower revenue.

The company's net profit for the quarter increased from $298 million, or 88 cents per share, to $330 million, or $1.01 per share, higher than the average analyst estimate of 93 cents for FactSet surveys.

Revenue fell by 5% from $4.21 billion in the same period last year to $4 billion, which was lower than the analysts' average forecast of $4.16 billion.

Delphi expects third-quarter earnings of 65-80 cents per share on revenue of 3.65 billion to 3.75 billion dollars, which is lower than the average analyst estimate of 85 cents and 4.01 billion dollars.

The company lowered its full-year revenue forecast from 16.2 billion to 16.5 billion U.S. dollars to 15.6 billion to 15.9 billion U.S. dollars, which is lower than the average analyst estimate of 16.25 billion U.S. dollars.

However, the company raised its full-year earnings forecast to 3.68-3.91 US dollars from the previous 3.63-3.85 US dollars. The average analyst estimate is $3.68.
