It has successively launched S60L, XC90Classic and XC60 models in China, and will launch the S60L plug-in hybrid model in China in May this year. Recently, Netcom has learned from the Volvo brand official that the Volvo Drive-E2.0T four-cylinder engine will be put into production in China and will be installed in a variety of domestic models. The Drive-E engine represents the latest engine technology of the Volvo brand. After the domestic model is launched, the power will be greatly improved.

According to the official announcement of the Volvo brand, the Volvo Zhangjiakou engine plant will begin production of the Drive-E engine this year. The plant was built in 2012 and will provide powertrains for all Volvo-made models in the future. At present, Volvo Car Engine has a registered capital of 1.21 billion yuan, and since 2013, it has started supporting engines for Daqing and Chengdu's vehicle factories. It is understood that Volvo will also invest more in the Zhangjiakou engine plant in the future. In addition, the plant uses consistent global production processes and quality standards to bring domestic products to the same quality as global products.

Compared to previous engines with more cylinder counts, the Drive-E2.0T four-cylinder engine is lighter in weight and smaller in size, allowing the engine to be closer to the front suspension. Such changes not only improve the handling of the vehicle, but also improve the safety of vehicle collision to some extent. At present, Volvo's domestic XC60 has already implemented the Drive-E engine. After the engine is made in China, the S60L and S60L plug-in hybrid models, XC60, XC90Classic and the new domestic C-class S90L will be realized in the future. The models launched in China will be used in the domestic Drive-E engine.

The Drive-E2.0T four-cylinder engine performed very well in terms of power. DerekCrabb, chief consultant for power engineering at Volvo Car Group's R&D department, said: "The power of the smaller, smarter engine we developed will be even stronger. "The engine can achieve a maximum power of 180kW and a peak torque of 350Nm. Compared with Volvo's old inline 5-cylinder 2.0T engine, the two data are increased by 23kW and 50Nm respectively. At the same time, in comparison with competing products, the Volvo Drive-E2.0T engine has the same data as BMW's 28i series of high-power 2.0T engines. In addition, with the use of new engines, the drive system of Volvo's domestic models is expected to be changed from the current 6-speed to the 8-speed automatic manual transmission.
