Recently, Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., Brilliance Auto Group Holdings Co., Ltd. and Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the AQSIQ according to the requirements of the Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Product Recall, which was decided from December 15, 2014. From the date of the recall, the following cars were recalled, totaling 559,882 vehicles:
(1) Some A3, Oriental Son, V5 and QQ6 vehicles produced by Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. from March 2005 to December 2013, totaling 289,773 vehicles;
(II) Some of Zunchi, Junjie and Kubao vehicles produced by Huachen Automobile Group Holdings Co., Ltd. from January 2006 to December 2011, totaling 238,024 vehicles;
(3) Some V80 and Elf cars produced by Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. from July 2007 to January 2014, totaling 32,085 vehicles.
Due to the design and manufacture of the parts supplier and the Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd., the fuel pump flange return pipe bracket of the vehicle within this recall may be cracked, resulting in fuel leakage and potential safety hazards. Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., Brilliance Automotive Group Holdings Co., Ltd. and Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. will replace the improved fuel pump for vehicles within the above recall range to eliminate safety hazards.
The recall was carried out under the influence of the AQSIQ defect investigation. Since July 2014, the AQSIQ has deployed the Defective Product Management Center of the AQSIQ and the local quality and technical supervision department to the United Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. for the cracking of the fuel pump flange bracket return pipe produced by United Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. The site and its related suppliers conducted on-site investigations. The investigation obtained a large amount of technical materials and physical evidence. The AQSIQ Defective Product Management Center conducted a survey and analysis of the technical materials and physical evidence obtained from the investigation. The survey results show that the fuel pump flange bracket return pipe cracking problem produced by United Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. may involve multiple automobile producers. The AQSIQ immediately organized the Defective Product Management Center to officially launch a defect investigation for the relevant automobile producers.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine will organize the supervision and evaluation of the scope and recall measures of this recall, and effectively protect the safety of consumers' personal and property. United Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd. and producers affected by the faulty fuel pump should continue to investigate the range of possible faulty fuel pumps. If the scope of the recall is found to be inaccurate, the recall should be implemented as soon as possible.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) reminds consumers that in view of the serious problem affecting vehicle safety due to fuel leakage, please contact the producers if there is a smell of gasoline in the car or a drop of gasoline under the fuel tank before the producer implements the recall.
