The reporter learned from the China Machinery Industry Federation (CEC) on the 29th that from January to November, the production and sales of the machinery industry showed steady and rapid growth. Among them, the growth of the machine tool industry was even more “eye-catching”.

According to industry insiders, the high growth of the machine tool industry in 2011 will continue due to the new demand brought by the development of strategic emerging industries.

In the first 11 months, the machine tool industry increased by more than 40%. From January to November, the total industrial output value of the machinery industry totaled 128,985.42 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 33.76%, an increase of 19.67 percentage points over the same period of last year; the entire industry completed sales. The output value was 125,082.82 billion yuan, an increase of 34.09% year-on-year, an increase of 20.08 percentage points over the same period of last year.

According to relevant sources, although the growth rate of production and sales in the industry has continued to fall, the rate of decline has slowed down, and production and sales have achieved steady and rapid growth.

In the booming production and sales environment, the performance of the machine tool industry is very prominent. According to data from China Machine Association, from January to November, in the 12 sub-sectors of the machinery industry, the production of the machine tool industry grew by 41.24% year-on-year, which is one of the fastest growing sub-sectors.

The machine tool industry includes host manufacturers and component manufacturers. Jinding CNC Machine Tool Co., Ltd. believes that there are two reasons for the rapid growth of the mainframe manufacturers. First, due to the financial crisis, the procurement of machine tools was compressed, and the demand was released after the crisis. Second, the cost of labor in various places increased, resulting in a substantial increase in the demand for CNC machine tools.

The rapid increase in demand for mainframes has also directly contributed to the warming of the aftermarket. The reporter learned from a private-parts-manufacturing company in Baoji that the company not only quickly sold out its previous inventory products, but also appeared to have insufficient production capacity and had to schedule some host orders to next year.

Strategic emerging industries will continue to add strength to industry insiders believe that nurturing new economic growth points and seizing the commanding heights of international economic and technological development have become the world's development trend. The development of strategic emerging industries is closely related to the machine tool industry. Therefore, cultivating and developing strategic emerging industries will provide new opportunities for the machine tool industry.

For example, benefiting from the increase in investment in new energy industries, large-scale gears required for high-performance reducers and speed increasers have become urgently needed products, which provides a broad market for gear cutting machine tools. Among them, Qinchuan Machine Tool Group proposed that one of the future development goals is to “become a R&D and manufacturing base for new energy wind power components”.

In this regard, Miao Wei, Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, has also placed great expectations. At the meeting held by the China Machine Tool Industry Association in October, he demanded that the industry should seize the opportunity for the development of strategic emerging industries and the implementation of CNC machine tools in the “Twelfth Five-year Plan” to promote the Chinese machine tool industry in the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”. During this period, we achieved a comprehensive breakthrough from quantity to quality.
