Scana receives an order for a permanent magnet propulsion motor for a new ocean fishing vessel
It is reported that Norway's Scana permanent magnet propulsion motor Thorque+ will be installed on a new ocean-going fishing vessel to be built at the Polish shipyard.
This permanent magnet propulsion motor was jointly developed by Scana and Inpower, and was the first in the industry to receive a redundant R3 approval from the DNV GL classification society.
This compact permanent magnet motor integrates the pitch management of propulsion and controllable pitch propellers as part of the diesel-electric propulsion system, reducing maintenance costs and space.
Scandinavian Propulsion Systems will deliver a 750 kW Thorque+ system to the fixed-pitch propeller of an ocean-going fishing vessel built by Icelandic shipowner Stormur Seafood at the Alkor shipyard in Poland, which is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of this year.
