Indian automotive wheel supplier SSW supplies Tata Motors

Indian steel wheel supplier Steel Strips and Wheels (SSW) has started production and supplied Tata with auto wheels.

SSW's plant in Jamshedpur, India, is responsible for the production of these wheels, with an annual capacity of 1 million wheels. The plant went into production in July 2010 and will supply Tata Motors wheels from December 14th.

SSW plans to increase the annual capacity of its hubs at its three plants in Jamshedpur, Dappar and Chennai from the current 12.5 million units to 21.5 million units by 2012.

In addition, SSW plans to establish a new hub factory in Pune, India. It is expected that its hub will have an annual production capacity of 2.5 million pieces. The new plant will start supplying wheels for automakers starting in 2012.

SSW spokesman S Raghuvanshi said: “The initial production capacity of the Pune plant will be 2.5 million pieces per year. By 2013, the plant's annual production capacity of the hub will increase to 4 million pieces.”
