Volkswagen plans to integrate FAW-Volkswagen and Shanghai Volkswagen

Recently, Dr. Lei Sioneng, president of Volkswagen China, announced that “in the future, Volkswagen China will be responsible for all issues related to the Chinese market, including some decisions that would have to be made in Wolfsburg in Germany.”
Yesterday, Lei Sineng led 5 Chinese senior executives to meet with reporters in the capital to celebrate Volkswagen’s just upgrading to regional headquarters.

As the Chinese market becomes more and more important, Volkswagen Group decided to re-adjust its business structure in China. Volkswagen China will replace the Asia-Pacific region and be directly responsible for the Volkswagen Group's global board of directors.

Rees proudly said: "We firmly believe that we have taken the right step, just as we did in Shanghai 20 years ago."

Volkswagen has decided that the products to be launched in the Chinese market in the future must receive China's R&D. Currently, the total number of R&D personnel of the two joint ventures in China is more than 1,000. Resnon also revealed that during a visit to Germany by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao not long ago, the public had presented Premier Wen Jiabao with a new model developed by Shanghai Volkswagen. This new model will soon be available in China.

The vice president of Xerox also revealed that due to the overlapping of product lines between FAW-Volkswagen and Shanghai Volkswagen, objective competition has formed. Therefore, Volkswagen will give the two companies a clearer division of labor in the future to allow them to develop in parallel. At the same time, in order to reduce costs, their parts procurement will be unified by a vice president.

Reithen also revealed that Volkswagen’s number of employees in Beijing will reach 300 in the near future.

It is reported that the additional investment from 2003 to 2008 will reach 5.3 billion euros. By then, the German Volkswagen Group's production in China will reach 1.6 million.

Continuous Miner

Conventional underground coal mining relies upon the use of continuous miners in order to extract coal reserves from underground coal seams. In combination with the continuous miners, shuttle cars are used to transport the extracted coal from the face to a transfer point (feeder breaker). From there the coal is typically tipped onto the underground conveyor system, which transports the coal to the surface in order to be distributed to customers. Effective management of the cutting, loading and tipping cycles utilized in the sections serve as a possible area for productivity improvement.
