Q: What is the proportion of your company's automotive products in global sales?
Sales in 2013 were $4.2 billion, of which 44% were in-vehicle products. The core of the car products is the microcontroller. The company's MCU is applied to many fields such as powertrain, vehicle body systems, safety systems, and information systems.
Q: What is your company's position in the automotive semiconductor industry?
The company ranks second in the automotive semiconductor industry (20% share). In addition, the first share is about 40%, and the third is about 10%.
Q: What efforts will your company make for the industry?
The automotive system is based on MCU vendors such as the company, first-tier component manufacturers, and close collaboration with automotive manufacturers. While developing MCUs with higher performance and lower cost, we are also deepening our relationship with automakers and component manufacturers.
Q: Automakers are working on standardization of electronic platforms. How Freescale sees this approach.
We express our approval. The standardization of the platform is not the company, but the subject of auto manufacturers. After the car manufacturers set standards, the company will be more likely to provide the same platform around the world. But the process of standardization needs to continue to push. Even if the platform of a car manufacturer is reduced to two or three, how many car manufacturers have corresponding electronic platforms.

After achieving automatic driving, safety will become more important. The company has also introduced gateway products to ensure security.
