Bridgestone Develops New Tire Wear Assessment Technology

A few days ago, Bridgestone Corporation announced that the group has developed a new technology based on the CAIS (grounded information sensing) concept to evaluate tire wear and pattern depth. In order to allow the user to judge the most appropriate time to replace the tire, thus improving the driving conditions.

During the use of the tire, as the tread pattern wears, the wet grip performance of the tire will decrease, and tires with extremely uneven wear or partial wear will also increase the risk of vehicle failure. Bridgestone's new technology uses sensors attached to the inside of the tire to obtain information on tire tread condition changes during normal driving, by providing the driver with real-time tire information such as the remaining pattern depth and whether the tire is experiencing uneven wear. This will allow consumers to better grasp the optimal timing of tire replacement, effectively prevent uneven wear, and enable users to use the tires for as long as possible to avoid unnecessary waste.

Bridgestone said that the technology will be put into practical use as soon as possible to help consumers reduce costs and create comfortable driving conditions for consumers.
