0 Overview
The Shanghai World Expo Village VIP Living Center Project is located in a five-star hotel and is the highest-standard hotel in the World Expo 2010 Shanghai World Expo supporting the project. The hotel covers an area of about 25,500 square meters, a total construction area of 66,000 square meters, a building height of about 95 meters, 26 floors above ground, and 2 floors underground, with a total of 443 rooms.
The power distribution system of the Shanghai World Expo Village VIP Living Hall is divided into two parts: high and low pressure. The high voltage part is two 10KV incoming lines and there are 4 transformers. InterContinental Expo is an important power load user. As the highest-standard hotel in the Expo Village project, the importance of stable power supply can be imagined. The low-voltage part is divided into a low-voltage distribution room, a refrigerating room, a pump room, and an emergency diesel generator set. In each floor, there is a low-voltage power distribution room, which supplies power to each equipment circuit in each floor.
Combined with the power management system Acrel-3000 of the power distribution system, it takes full advantage of the latest developments in modern electronic technology, computer technology, network technology and fieldbus technology, and conducts distributed data collection and centralized monitoring and management of the power distribution system. The secondary equipment of the power distribution system is networked. Through the computer and communication network, the field devices of the decentralized power distribution station are connected into an organic whole, and the remote monitoring and centralized management of the power grid equipment operation is realized.
1 Power Management Requirements Analysis and System Composition
Since this project is a five-star hotel, all loops for installing smart meters need to be monitored at the site, and statistics on air conditioning, lighting, and power usage must be collected. The statistical report needs to be generated automatically every day. The on-site equipment operation status includes loop integration. The brake status also needs to be displayed in real time. There are many on-site instruments and three serial port servers and switches are used in the networking.
The system uses a hierarchical distributed computer network architecture:
That is, the spacer layer, communication layer, and station control layer are as follows:

The main equipments for on-site measurement and control layer are: multi-functional network power meters and microcomputer protection devices. These devices are corresponding to the corresponding primary equipment installed in the electrical cabinet, these devices are used RS485 communication interface, through the site shielded twisted pair network communication, data acquisition on the spot.
The communication control layer is mainly a communication server. The main function of the communication control system is to collect the scattered data from the on-site collection device and transmit it to the station control layer at the same time. The data exchange between the field layer and the station control layer is completed.
Station control management: equipped with high-performance industrial computers, monitors, UPS power supplies, printers and other equipment. The monitoring system is installed on the computer to collect and display the operating status of the field equipment and display it to the user in the form of human-computer interaction.
The above network instruments all use RS485 interface and MODBUS-RTU communication protocol in the field. RS485 adopts shielded wire transmission. Generally, two wires are used to connect, and the wiring is simple and convenient.
2 main functions of the power management system
2.1 Data Acquisition and Processing
Data acquisition is the basis of power distribution monitoring. Data collection is mainly completed by the underlying multi-function network instrument to achieve local real-time display of remote data. The signals that need to be collected include: three-phase voltage U, three-phase current I, frequency Hz, power P, power factor COSφ, power Ep, and remote device operating status.
Data processing is mainly to display the electrical parameters collected according to requirements in real time and accurately to the user, so as to meet the requirements of automation and intelligence of the power distribution monitoring. At the same time, the collected data is stored in the database for user query.
2.2 Human-computer interaction
The system provides simple, easy to use, and good user interface. Using the Chinese interface, the CAD graphic shows the electrical main wiring diagram of the low voltage distribution system, shows the status of the distribution system equipment and the corresponding real-time operating parameters, the screen timing switching tour; dynamic refresh of the screen in real time; analog display; switch display; continuous Record display, etc.
2.3 Failure alarm and accident recall
When an operational failure occurs in the power distribution system, an audible and visual alarm will be promptly issued to prompt the user to respond to the fault circuit in a timely manner. At the same time, the time and place of the event will be automatically recorded so as to be queried by the user to recall the cause of the fault.
2.4 Database Establishment and Query
It mainly completes remote measurement and remote signal acquisition, and establishes a database to generate reports regularly for users to query and print.
2.5 User Rights Management
For different levels of users, different permission groups are set to prevent the losses caused by human misoperation to production and life, and to realize the safe and reliable operation of the distribution system.
2.6 Running load curve
Timely acquisition of incoming line and important loop current load parameters, automatic generation of the operating load trend curve, to facilitate users to understand the equipment operating load status.
2.7 Energy Cost Management
Automatically carry out daily, monthly, and annual energy statistics, and can set sharp, peak, level, and valley time periods to realize the function of time-divisional billing of electric energy and generate daily, monthly, and annual reports.
3 Case Studies
There are four 10kV/0.4kV distribution transformers in the low-voltage power distribution system of Shanghai World Expo Village VIP Life Center. This system is mainly responsible for real-time dynamic monitoring of low-voltage incoming lines and corresponding outgoing circuits as well as monitoring of the circuits of power meters installed on the floors.
The incoming circuit uses ACR230ELH multi-function harmonic instrument, which is a network power meter designed for the power monitoring needs of power systems, industrial and mining enterprises, public facilities, and intelligent buildings. It can measure all conventional power parameters such as: three-phase voltage, Current, active power, reactive power, power factor, frequency, active power, reactive power, and voltage-current monitoring of 2-31 harmonic components and other electrical parameters. And this instrument has 4 photoelectric isolation digital input contacts and 2 relay control output contacts. These contacts can be used with intelligent circuit breakers to achieve remote signaling and remote control of the circuit breaker. The series of network power meters are mainly used in substation automation, distribution network automation, residential power monitoring, industrial automation, energy management systems and intelligent buildings.
The important distribution circuit adopts ACR220EFLK series network power meter. The meter mainly completes the measurement of three-phase current, three-phase voltage, active power, multi-rate electric energy, switch signal detection and relay remote control output.
The high-pressure side real-time screen is shown in Fig. 1. It is the main monitoring screen of the system. It mainly monitors the running status of the high-pressure loop in real time. Red represents closing, and green represents opening.

The low-voltage power distribution system of the Expo Village VIP Living Hall is shown in Figure 2. The main function of the power meter remote monitoring is to monitor the electrical parameters of the operating equipment, including the three-phase voltage, current, power, power factor, electrical energy, frequency and other electrical parameters and distribution. The three-phase current of the circuit and the remote signaling function are used to display the operating status of the field devices, mainly including: the switching and closing operation status of the switch and the communication failure alarm; the remote meter reading function mainly completes the remote collection function of each major loop. 4 Conclusion
With the development of society and the wide application of electricity, electrical energy management has become an inevitable choice for large-scale public buildings. The application of the power meter and ACREL3000 energy management system introduced in the VIP life hall of Block A in Expo Village can realize the classification of electrical energy. And time-division and multi-rate measurement can not only show the status of electricity usage, but also have network communication functions. It can be combined with computers to form a power monitoring and power management system. The system analyzes and processes the collected data and generates various energy reports, analysis curves, and graphs, which facilitate the remote meter reading and analysis and research of electric energy. The series of power meters and systems are reliable and stable. They provide statistical data for buildings and provide a basis for decision-making on energy conservation and have achieved better social benefits.
